Abstract

Languages in Papua are conventionally divided into two main families: Austronesian and non-Austronesian or Papuan languages. This paper gives a brief account on the phonological and grammatical features of those languages by referring to the studies of Blust (2009), for the Austronesian languages, and Foley (1986, 2000), for the Papuan languages.

Abstract

Based on the language mapping in Papua have mentioned that the Austronesian languages and non-Austronesian. Based on the mapping of the language is known in Pegunungan Tengah and inland areas can not find the Austronesian language of Papua, while the non-Austronesian languages are found only in inland and coastal. Austronesian languages found along the northern coast of Papua, coastal and island in Teluk Cenderawasih, and the coast of Kepala Burung. Austronesia languages in Papua brought by Austronesian speakers who migrated to this area in 1500 until 1000 BC. Based on this record so that there are areas of Papua Austronesia language that is expected to have pottery material culture.

Abstract

Uniformity is one of several aspects to be achieved through standardization. In the Indonesian context, the achievement of a standard language spoken variety dimensions have some resistance. These barriers, among others, caused by mostly native speakers of Indonesian teak is the local language. Sound system the difference between the Indonesian language with local language bocomes a problem that needs to get attention. This paper will attempt to explain the problem and how to handle it by taking the example of Kayu Pulau language case, a regional language spoken in the city of Jayapura.

Abstract

Papua literature is like Kartenz mountain peaks of Jayawijaya, which stood with strong but so cold because the eternal snow. The position of literature in Papua so alive and together with the Papuan’s identity that putting the culture or customs as the dignity of their lives. So far, the material of literature that developed in Papua has not been much to raise the issue of locality. Papua has counter laden with issues of national and state life dynamisism. Therefore, there needs to be dynamic literary of Papua. Dinamisation literary form in Papua will be discussed in this paper. The goal as well as stimulate the process of literary appreciation of the splendor to the issue of locality in Papua, this paper also wanted to inspire observer and literary enthusiasts in Papua so that more developing literature on the deepening of Papua, with bringing forward local policies (local wisdom) of land in Papua, by increasing the capacity of people living in Papua mental spiritual education. This paper can also be used as reference material efforts to reduce the disharmonisation life of nation and state in Papua.

Abstract

This paper give reflection to the reader about the image of women and injustice experienced by women in the Dani tribe without being able to defend against the injustices suffered by the female characters in the novel. For example, when a wife asks her husband's responsibility to work to meet the needs of family life, but received the invective, scolding, and even violence from her husband. In addition, women also serve as sexual objects by men without being able to provide resistance, causing a prolonged trauma. Injustices experienced by women is also still frequently occur until now, whether it is injustice in the menage, sexual or economy. This makes the speaker choose the topic of gender inequality against women in the novel Sali: Kisah Seorang Wanita Suku Dani by Dewi Linggasari. In  this paper, the speaker uses feminist literary studies, by considering the aspects of feminism.

Abstract

Customary heritages and values are implicitly and explicitly kept in cultural expressions as in oral tradition. Papua has multiethnic and cultures so it needs specific threaten. Local authonomy with its implication will bring impacts on many sectors. This paper aims to analys the culture value of oral tradition from Biak. Indeed, the local indegenious to be the focus. Sustainable development of Biak will be successfully if there is sufficient attention toward customary or indegenious heritages and their values. This is a library research, and the paper presented descriptively. From this oral tradition of Biak, there are some local indegenious such as concept of social, economy, culture, and technology found on it.

Abstract

Ketika Cinta Bertasbih film is a religious cinema. This film tells about an Al Azhar student named Khairul Azzam, his family in Indonesia and his friend in Cairo. As code mixing is defined as all cases where lexical items and grammatical features from two languanges appear in one sentence, the writer concludes that the characters uses code mixing in their communication. As a study of sociolinguistics, this paper explains on code mixing used by Azzam and his friends who come from all etnics. They had mixed their Indonesian with Javanese, Indonesian and Arabic, Indonesian and English. It is found that the strategy of code mixing mostly used in the drama is insertion.

Abstract

Parts of words spoken in one breath, usually consisting of several phonemes which is a syllable. Molof syllables has always a core vowel syllables. Molof syllables consisting of one vowel, one vowel and one consonant, a consonant and a vowel, and one consonant, one vowel, and one consonant.
